Simple French Onion Soup Recipe

This is a simple recipe, but that requires a lot of ingredients, you will need to mix them all very well to make a perfect soup that your whole family will enjoy. Just read carefully and then you will have a masterpiece in your own kitchen, your family and friends will wonder were did you learn to do all this amazing cooking and they will be there for eat it everyday.

Ingredients:
Unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
Sliced onions (4 cups)
Cans beef broth (4 cans or 10.5 ounce)
Dry sherry (optional) (2 tablespoons)
Dried thyme (1 teaspoon)
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
French bread (4 slices)
Provolone cheese (4 slices)
Swiss cheese (2 slices, diced)
Parmesan cheese (1/4 cup grated)

How to do it:
For this recipe you need to melt butter with olive oil in an eight-quart stock-pot on medium heat, in here you will add onions and continually stir until tender and translucent. Remember to do not brown the onions; they will taste bad if you do. Then you will need to add beef broth, sherry and thyme. Season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 30 minutes, at least this time. Then you will need to heat the oven broiler, and in here you will continue the cooking, now ladle soup into oven safe serving bowls and place one slice of bread on top of each; just a tip: the bread may be broken into pieces if you prefer; this is just ad advice, then you can layer each slice of bread with a slice of provolone, 1/2 slice diced Swiss and 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese. After you have don this you can place bowls on cookie sheet and broil in the preheated oven until cheese bubbles and browns slightly. Then you can stop cooking and serve.
